I have been using this bike everyday for commutes/ shopping/ outings for nearly 2 months now and am very pleased with it. Mercury Energy gives out a $250 handout to help buy this bike when purchased it at Big Street Bikers. It is a very comfortable and easy to ride, runs very smoothly, has a great level of assist and in particular, the tyre grip on the road feels very safe. The bike computer is easy to see when riding and I like it’s uncluttered screen. I have the yellow bike which I think helps make it more visible.
I have now done 840 km so far, and have not noticed the bike charging on my home electricity bill at all. So it must be very cheap to charge up.
The brakes have great stopping power but they are a bit squeaky sometimes.
The bike has great front and back brake lighting that runs off the bike’s battery. This very convenient rather than having to maintain clip on bike lights. There is no side lighting though, only reflectors. So I still use extra side clip on lights sometimes.
The bike is 24 kg including battery, so you definitely want to keep it charged!
It is less agile at handling corners than my manual bike. The foldable ebike that I tried was very zippy and the best ebike that I came across for handling corners. However I found the hiko more comfortable so bought that one.
