I am 76 and have had a Hikobike Rangler for a few years, done around 5000 Kilometers on it. I have fairly severe arthritis and the electric power helps me keep up with cycling friends when I need it. On the flats I turn the power off.
It is a great bike, I ride in parks, trails and forests with off road tyres and carry all the gear I want, clothing, tools and spares in the waterproof panniers. I even towed a friend who’s chain broke for 10 kilometres to the nearest railway station using a piece of rope we found on the side of the road near Papakura.
I chose the larger battery and the longest ride I have done in one hit was 115 kilometres, part of the Hauraki Rail Trail. Hit some fierce head winds there and the power saved me.
It is a good looking bike you and I have lots of people so and ask me about it. Centre drive and torque sensing is the way to go.

I bought my Rangler in 2018. I have the standard ampage battery and find it enough. I rode 90kms on a rail trail between no’s 1 and 2 assisted power and still had half its battery life left. That’s impressive. I will buy a second battery as a back up – most likely the higher ampage. The Rangler suits me as I am quite tall and is a great ride – can be fast too if you’re in a hurry!

I love my Rangler. I bought it a few months ago and had no issues with it. Daily rides to work have been quick and fun.
